For many of us, this may be the beginning of a toast given at a formal ball or even a paddle party. Some of the various traditions amongst certain groups come and go, most of which the origins are unknown. Quite frankly, this is another one of those situations. Some may say Mother Theresa, others claim Konstantin Jirecek. One thing known for sure is the majority of branches of US militaries have used it in one way or another throughout the 20th century. That being said, it turned into the slogan that gave the collective its first breath.
